Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Catterick, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions can vary based on the vehicle type. Those under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Catterick office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of your rental; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges accrued during the rental period, plus an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. The Rental Agreement outlines the full coverage details and the applicable excess amounts. Additional insurance options may be available, which can lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless further insurance is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of your insurance coverage.
Cancellations and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is also not allowed. Sub-letting to third parties or allowing unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should not be used outside its intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must be observed. Travel beyond the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Catterick is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
